This is a real treat!
A professionally done documentary (about 10 minutes long) about Field Day and Amateur Radio in general in Fort Wayne, Indiana - from 2017.
Personally, I think they overplay the "weak signal" aspect of low power operating. So many people do this that it becomes a psychological handicap. Sure, QRP signals are generally not as loud as 100 Watt signals - but it's not like they're microscopic in comparison. And if the propagation is right, the guy on the receiving end might never know - unless you tell him.
On the whole, though? Nicely done, gentlemen ...... nicely done!

Thanks for the post and your honest review. The point isn't that 100w is easy to hear around the world and 5w isn't. It was more about the marveling that the power used for a light bulb, if properly handled, can reach around the world--and that's what sparks the love of the craft.
ReplyDeleteThis movie was an accident. KB9RLW on YouTube just wanted some B-Roll, and I shot so much that I decided to make a movie. Coincidentally a guy that just happens to work for a radio station in my building had done drone footage the night before. It was all kind of a happy accident.
Since you called it "professional" you can say anything else you want. That makes me very happy with how it turned out.
