Holey Moley

The knobs are BEAUTIFUL, without a doubt - but you can buy an entire SW+ Series kit from Dave Bensen at Small Wonder Labs for less than the price of just one of these babies!

The embedded video sure does a good job of demonstrating how superb these are. But if I start buying stuff like this there is NO WAY that I will ever be able to afford a K3, much less buy after market knobs for it.

However, for those of you who can afford them; go for it and more power to you!

  1. I do wonder what the effect of the weight of those knobs is on the rotary encoder? I also wonder what is the point of them. My K3 VFO knob spins way too freely as it is. One advantage would be if you can access the set screws for the knob in order to adjust the friction against the felt washer without having to break your fingernails trying to pry the rubber ring off the knob. (Other manufacturers provide a tensioner screw.) But it's not an advantage I'd pay that kind of dough for.

  2. Good morning Larry,It's true they are $$ and it is good advice to get the rig before the knobs. Shame to just have two knobs and no rig...:). I spoiled myself with them, during this past summer I was putting in crazy overtime hours. I was working 6 hours extra each day including 12 hour weekends. So at the end of it I rewarded myself with the purchase. Felt it would never happen again so I went for it.

  3. Hi Larry,
You're so right. I own a SW20+ for almost 2 years now. And up to now it has given me more fun on just one band than the good old ts520 did on all the others.
And for the price of one knob i could buy the 40 mtr version as well.
