10th Anniversary Giveaway!

On April 30th, it will be ten years since the "W2LJ - QRP - Do More With Less" blog was born.

In appreciation for all who read this blog, I am going to give something away to one lucky reader. I have a new, mint condition, unused, complete sheet of fifty United States Amateur Radio stamps, issued in 1964 on the 50th Anniversary of the ARRL - Scott #1260. I am going to have the sheet matted and framed - ready for display on some deserving shack wall. All I ask is that you send an e-mail to w2lj@arrl.net - entitled "Blog Anniversary Giveaway". Include your name, call sign and mailing address.

Any Amateur Radio op worldwide can enter. I will package and ship the framed stamps to any destination that the United States Post Office will accept.

The names and call signs will be loaded into a software program such as RandomPicker on April 30th and a winner will be determined. The winner will be announced here, and then the framed stamps will be posted.

Good luck, and thank you for reading!

Guys, please feel free to leave comments on any posts that you wish. I enjoy getting and reading them. However, I've had to turn the "Comments moderation" feature on. It seems someone has been leaving comments in some form of Chinese script. If you clicked on them, you were taken to a spot featuring pornographic materials.

I consider this a "family blog" and I won't tolerate that kind of abuse for a even nanosecond. I want this to be the type of place where Hams can bring prospective new members, especially young folk without having to worry that they might be exposed to inappropriate material. There's way too much of that on the Internet, anyway.

So if you leave a comment, don't be disappointed if you don't see them for a while. I will publish them as soon as I separate the wheat from the smut.

BTW, I have found out who is leaving the spam and I have made a Terms of Service report to Google.

Hi Larry. I've had to do the same thing on my blog, too. I've been getting Chinese and porn submissions for awhile. It seems a few of the older articles are real spam magnets.

Hi Larry, yes, that kind of spam is very annoying. It's necessary to put on the moderation. I have no word verification and moderation active, but when it is necessary I will activate it. Have a nice weekend, 73 Paul

Sorry they hit ya' Larry! I do the same thing. It slows things down, but it does keep 'em out. I'm not sure how it works on blogger but I have a few plugins that filter 99% of them out too.

As always, I enjoy keeping up with your blog!
