Guess I was wrong

I didn't make it into NK9G's Fox log the other night.

Unfortunately, he chose an unsettling way to announce that to the entire world - from the Q-FOX reflector today:

80 Meter Log NK9G
corrections if any to nk9g@wi.rr.com
and those who didnt get in the log... W2SH,  W2LJ,  KG4J..,  K7GO
72 & Good Hunting!
Rick  NK9G
NK9G FOX LOG 11/02/10
01:01 K9CW 579 IL DREW 5W
 (rest of log appears)

Hmmmmmmm ..... I think it would have been better to have just read the log and discovered my call missing.

I was heard (obviously); but guess my exchange wasn't copied. That's what I'll have to assume as no cogent explanation was given.

Them's the breaks!

  1. Well Larry in the long run it is better to know you didn't work him than think you did and did not. But having said that I would imagine there was a surprised look on your face when you read his report.

  2. Ouch! We fellow FP's still love ya Larry! Been off traveling a bit so looking forward to getting online again soon. Hope to hear you on the air. Internet is fine, but CW is more fun. I like the new header image you put up, except it makes me jealous.

Bravo, Larry. Did someone not have their afternoon juice and crackers after their nap?

Here's what you've done with your "revenge" post. If you Google NK9G now, you'll see where 5 out of the first 6 hits are directed to YOUR blog where you whine about not being in his log. Was that really your intent, to sucker punch NK9G and let everyone in the world know about this unbelievably important development?

The proper thing to do would be to apologize to Mr. McGaver for wasting everyone's time by dragging his name through the mud.

The right thing to do would be simply remove a worthless post and think of better things to write about.

  4. My intent was not to sucker punch.

I posted about what happened. Did I say anything that was not true?

I repeat .... did I say something that was not true?

In the past, when I have posted Fox logs, I NEVER began by telling folks they were not in the log. I let them take a look for themselves; and if they had a question, they asked. Pure and simple. This is they way it should be. IMHO, it was bad form.

My blog - my opinion; and I do have that right, whether you like it or not ..... Mr. Anonymous.

If Rick feels that I have dragged his name through the mud and was looking for revenge, that was not my intent and I truly apologize.

Keep a look out on Q-Fox, Mr. Anonymous - I will post something there; but will not remove this just because it offends you.

Larry, I posted as anonymous because, quite frankly, I don't wish to see my name associated with such behavior and also because we are acquaintances. I do appreciate that you posted my comment.

You're right, it's your blog, you can post whatever you wish - and you did, obviously.

And I'm not offended in the least. I am simply disheartened and saddened that a grown man who I had come to respect and look forward to reading would post something so childish, it really detracts from what is otherwise a really nice blog. Clearly this is important enough to you that you feel the right thing to do is to make it public. THAT is bad form. I understand your point about his decision to post about who is NOT in the log, and maybe that is bad form also, but you've blown something so trivial out of proportion that it reeks of 4th grade taunts.

  6. Sorry that I have lost your respect .... but I made this public? It went public when the post was made to Q-Fox.

I reacted; and probably not in the best manner.

Look, I've been doing this Fox thing steadily for the past six years. I am by no means the best hound, best fox or the best QRP op. I do what I do; and make my share of mistakes. But in all those years and all those logs, I have never, ever, never seen one start off with the Fox singling out Hams who did not make to log.

I have seen and have posted sentences myself saying, "And to all who didn't make the log, thanks for your patience anyway. Sorry that I didn't get your exchange". That's the right way to do it.

Lastly, thanks for not posting your call, If we're acquaintances, then I am sure I respect you. In the future, I wouldn't want to associate you with this.
